A Dammed Endpoint?

Oh dam! IB is back in the Snowys! Join us at the beautiful Humes Crossing Campground, on the shores of Blowring Dam. Endpoint is ~ a 2.5 hr drive away so be prepared for a bit of a bus ride/drive getting. It promises to be a sunny day so make sure to pack sunscreen and a hat (and everything else listed below. SV Coffee will be on hand in the morning to provide your caffeine fix and warm breakfast foods. However, all other food must be brought by you or your college

Dam I have to follow rules?

It is important for the safety and enjoyment of everyone you follow these basic rules:

  • Please note Humes Crossing is a public campground and although we have one area designated for Inward Bound, please respect all park users.
  • If you leave endpoint in a private car, you will not be permitted to return.
  • No Alcohol is to be consumed during the event by spectators or runners.
  • Leave no trace, take all your rubbish with you.

Dam what else should I do?

You should also not forget to bring any of the following

  • Food and water for the whole day – you should also bring money for the SV Coffee van (cash or card).
  • A hat, sunscreen and protective clothing. Warm clothing – jumper, trackies, socks, beanie, scarf, gloves. It is often VERY cold in the mornings. Bring some wet weather gear just in case.
  • Blankets to sleep/sit on.
  • Rain coat/umbrella. (yes even though it is supposed to be sunny)
  • Book/ball/playing cards/board game/guitar.
  • Enclosed shoes – often access is through grass/paddocks/unstable ground.
  • Insect Repellant
  • Optional – inflatable mattresses, hike mats, doonas, sleeping bags, pillows.

Also, be sure not to bring any of the following

  • Alcohol
  • Sparklers, lighters, matches – often areas used for End Point are in Fire Danger Zones and have fire bans.

Bussling to get there?

If you have signed up to travel by Bus to endpoint, they will depart for your college at the specified times below.

Driving Instructions

Dam, I’m driving there!

If you are arriving by private vehicle make sure this is pre-approved by your hall/the committee. Ressies and Ex-Ressiwes must leave between 5 and 5:30 a.m. VIPS can leave by 7:00am. Leaving later than these times risks leaving you unable to attend EP. Not being pre-approved to come also risks you being not allowed to enter EP. This is as parking is limited.

Humes Crossing Campground is located just off the Snowy Mountains Hwy ~20km south of Tumut. The best way to get there is to take the Federal Hwy on the Hume Hwy, head south towards Gungagai, and then on the Snowy Mountains Hwy and south through Tumut. DO NOT travel via Brindabella Rd.

What and Where things are at EP

Dam, I can’t find where things are

EP has all the basic facilities you need for the day found on the map below/right including:

  • Portaloos
  • SV Coffee Van
  • Picnic Tables
  • Phone reception
