In 2018 there were a number of cases dealt with by the Race Referee. The decisions are as follows:
Due to entering Out of Bounds areas, disqualification of:
- Griffin Division 5 team
- B&G Division 5 team
- Bruce Division 5 team
- Johns Division 5 team
- Ursula Division 5 team
- Burgmann Division 5 team
- Division X Division 5 team (Chong, Gould, Grace, Graham)
Due to failing to inform the IB Committee of a Significant Training run under rules 124 and 125, carrying a maximum penalty of a loss of 15 points for 1 instance:
Point penalty:
- Loss of 7 points for Burgmann due to 2 failures to notify and multiple other breaches
- Loss of 3 points for Bruce due to 1 failure to notify
Burgmann and Bruce appealed this decision and took the matter to Tribunal. The Tribunal found the Race Referee’s decision to be the most fair and impartial decision for the circumstance.
