2018 Results

Congratulations to all the teams, coaches and colleges. We are so impressed by the incredible navigation and high finish rates on such a tough course. Congratulations to everyone who competed!

In addition, congratulations to Burgmann on taking out the Bill Packard Trophy for winning Division 1 and to BnG for taking home the Inward Bound Trophy for winning the overall event.

In 2018 there were a number of cases dealt with by the Race Referee. The decisions are as follows:

Due to entering Out of Bounds areas, disqualification of:

  • Griffin Division 5 team
  • B&G Division 5 team
  • Bruce Division 5 team
  • Johns Division 5 team
  • Ursula Division 5 team
  • Burgmann Division 5 team
  • Division X Division 5 team (Chong, Gould, Grace, Graham)

Due to failing to inform the IB Committee of a Significant Training run under rules 124 and 125, carrying a maximum penalty of a loss of 15 points for 1 instance:

Point penalty:

  • Loss of 7 points for Burgmann due to 2 failures to notify and multiple other breaches
  • Loss of 3 points for Bruce due to 1 failure to notify

Burgmann and Bruce appealed this decision and took the matter to Tribunal. The Tribunal found the Race Referee’s decision to be the most fair and impartial decision for the circumstance.
